Brazil Update August 2014

Greetings in Christ,
I hope all is well with you as you read this quick update.
Ministry has been full over the last few months, causing us to run, run, run, and we are excited to share with you some of the things that are happening.
First though, we would like to let everyone know that Melissa will be coming to the U.S. for the month of September.  Her mother is being flown out to San Diego to undergo an important surgery on her lungs.  Please keep her, (Judy) in your prayers.  Melissa will be flying into LAX on Saturday, August 30th.  She will be in SoCal until Monday, Sept 30th.  If anyone has a car she could use during this time, please let us know.
Melissa would like to share with a couple of churches while she is there, and she has the Sundays open during this time.  Let us know if your church would like her to share about this ministry.
1)  Apurina

The work Brad is doing in the Apurina village is going along well.  He is teaching through Genesis, and is currently in Chapter 9.  He continues to have leadership meetings once a week while he is in the village.  Please continue to pray for the people there, Makao, Domiginho, Oscar, Doval and Patricio.  Please also pray for the surrounding villages.  Brad has been asked to visit them, but is waiting on the timing to be right.  Apurina Tribe

On the next trip, we will be reconstructing parts of our house there.  Brad will tear down the porch and the bathroom and rebuild both.  He has already bought all of  the supplies, but was waiting on the dry season to do the work, which is now.  He plans to stay for a month and teach out of Genesis 4 times a week during this time.

2) Outreaches

Having several groups in our house in the last couple of months has also increased the amount of outreaches we have done in the city.  We do continue to work at ITV, Institute for Transforming Lives.  Brad teaches English to the children on Wednesdays.  On Fridays, we help with a sign language class, Brad teaches a community Bible Study and we visit the people in their houses.  On Saturdays, Melissa teaches a Women’s Bible study and Brad works with the kids.
Brad, Andrea and Josiah all went on a 6 day evangelic river trip to Nova Olinda de Norte and the surrounding communities.  Both Andrea and Josiah led people to Christ for the first time using the wordless bracelets.  They also did much of the translation work for the team.  They did soccer outreaches, children’s outreaches and evangelized everywhere they went.  Many people came to know Christ as their Lord and Savior on this trip.  It was unbelievable the way God moved, but for us believers, we know that the impossible is possible and the unbelievable happens through the power and might of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ! https://www.facebook.com/millers.brazil/media_set?set=a.755426864507439.100001203967024&type=3
We also did many outreaches in the city of Manaus in the last 2 weeks with a second group.  We held 8 outreaches in 12 days, ministering to 1000 people.  Many children and adults accepted Christ for their first time during these outreaches and others recommitted themselves to God.  We also held a medical clinic at 5 of the 8 places, seeing to the physical needs of the children and young mothers.  We fed the people at each place also.  https://www.facebook.com/millers.brazil/media_set?set=a.765659920150800.1073741856.100001203967024&type=3
3) Family

The family has had their share of sicknesses in the last 4 months.  The little ones, Benjamin and Veronica seem to continue to go through flu like things with fevers, and we have all had the stomach bugs.  And at times we all feel worn out and remember that here, because of the climate, we need to take more breaks.

3 weeks ago, Veronica and Benjamin both fell, at different times, and cut open parts of their faces, requiring stitches.  Veronica got 4 stitches in her chin, and Benjamin got 7 stitches in his upper lip.

Currently little Benjamin is sick.  He has had a fever for two days.  If it continues for one more day, we will take him to the hospital to get checked out.
We appreciate your prayers, always.
4) Mission Base
We are currently in the process of transferring the documents of the mission base into our name, as we are buying it.  This is where we live.  We have paid for half of the base thus far through your generous donations and are waiting for the Lord to supply the rest.  We are confident that He will!
If you would like to help in this regard, please contact us and look at the support information found below.  😀
Once again, Thank you to everyone who supports this ministry and our family.
In Christ,
Brad, Melissa, Andrea, Josiah, Veronica, and Benjamin.
2Co 8:14  But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:
I implore you to consider supporting this ministry.  Ask yourself this.  Could I “fast” one $5 latte once a month and use that money to support this ministry?  And this is not a burden upon anyone.  But I say that if you were to give to the work of God, not just $5, but in abundance and with faith in God, your rewards would be meted out from the Lord in the same cup you gave, and would be packed down, and overflowing.  And you would each be participating in the ongoing work of God.
As we work hard for our Lord Jesus Christ here in the jungle and for your edification and growth where you are, so too, the work that you do can be used for our edification and growth.
1Co 9:11  If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?
2Co 4:6  For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
