Brazil Update January 2021
We make our own plans, but the LORD decides where we will go.
Proverbs 16:9
Greetings in Christ!
The following was copied from our last update in October…..”Reminiscing to March of 2020, before anything was shut down, before there were “mandatory” rules of masks and isolated distancing, we had just come back from the villages high on the blessedness of God and His exceeding abundance and goodness to His people. During our March trip, we saw the effect and culmination of several years of strong Bible preaching and teaching under the influence of and guided by the Holy Spirit being manifested in the lives of the people.”
I thought it important to remember what was going on before our habits and customs were so drastically altered in April 2020 because of COVID -19. After our last update, we had some visitors at the mission base who came down with COVID-19. While we ministered to them, the virus spread to some of our own household. Although we hoped to head back up to the Indian villages in November, we decided it was best to stay in the city. And just like that…….Christmas was here and 2020 went into the rear view mirror. Good news, Raimunda (one of our disciples) came to town and with her came messages of hope and love from the people in the village. She and her12 year old son Marco arrived on December 30.
She said that all of the services and bible studies have continued throughout the last 5 months in Vila Nova, Aldeia Nova and Makarao. She, along with a few others have continued to bring the Gospel to Bacuri, Santa Rita, and to Terra Vermelha on a regular basis.
What a joy to hear of these good tidings; the results of our teaching and discipleship over the last 7 years.
The Lord is good!
Tomorrow Brad and Josiah head up river, returning with Raimunda and her son to Vila Nova. We will re-evaluate the ministry on this trip and consider how we can improve upon what we have been doing. With God’s help, we will visit the villages where Oscar and Analucia have been living and those where Raimunda has been working. We will continue with our daily School of Ministry classes while in Vila Nova, and try to start some other classes in Aldeia Nova and Makarao.
Please pray for us. We look forward to building another church building this year, which had put on hold because of COVID 19.
Melissa, Veronica and Benjamin will join Josiah and I in two weeks, catching the next boat up river on January 19th, spending the last part of January with us and everyone else in the village.
